Summary:​
In recent years, the practice of mindfulness has been integrated more frequently in substance use disorders and mental health programs. Mindfulness aims to increase one’s awareness that arises from paying attention, on purpose, moment by moment, with compassion, and without judgment. Learn how to use mindfulness-based strategies to help problem gamblers become more aware of triggers and urges to gamble and respond differently to their experience.

  1. Define mindfulness, and how the practice of mindfulness can benefit problem gamblers.
  2. What it means to be an auto pilot, and how it can lead to unintentional recurrence of gambling behaviors.
