Heather Eshleman, MPH

Director of Operations

Heather Eshleman, MPH, is the Director of Operations for the Maryland Center of Excellence on Problem Gambling, where she leads statewide efforts to promote public health and reduce harms due to problem gambling. She brings more than twenty years of experience in problem gambling and substance use prevention programing serving communities, organizations, schools, adults, and youth through evidence-based public health strategies.  She previously served as the Center’s Prevention Manager and worked for the Anne Arundel County Department of Health, overseeing prevention strategies for problem gambling, substance use, opioid misuse, and family health.  Heather holds a Master of Public Health from the University at Albany and a bachelor’s degree in School and Community Health Education from Towson University. She also served in the U.S. Peace Corps in Morocco, promoting maternal and child health. Heather is committed to strengthening Maryland’s public awareness, prevention, public policy, treatment, and recovery support problem gambling efforts, expanding access to resources, and helping communities make informed, healthy choices concerning gambling.
