Summary:
As access to new forms of gambling become available within our state it is important that behavioral health professionals and our community members develop a better understanding of them and the potential risks. This training will assist in developing a better understanding and the potential impact they can have not just on the individual struggling with problematic gambling, but also their family and everyone associated with them. Hear a personal story of how disordered gambling severely negatively impacted an entire family. This training is relevant for all community members and professionals in the behavioral health field.
Learning Objectives:
- Have a better understanding of the increased access and newer forms of gambling available within our state.
- Have a better understanding of why we are seeing a more rapid progression and recent trend of younger callers seeking help for problematic gambling.
- Have a better understanding of how problematic gambling can severely impact the entire family.
- Be better able to recognize the signs and have a conversation with someone who may be at risk or already struggling with a gambling disorder.
- Know some of the resources available and what may be helpful to offer someone you may know struggling with problematic gambling.
